Asks the connected phone for a new copy of a message that arrived without opening.
When a message arrives and cannot be opened, the API already asks the phone for a copy automatically. If the copy does not arrive, the message is saved with messageType: "error" in /message/find, without the original content. This also applies to contact Status (chatid: status@broadcast). Use this route to try again, for example after opening WhatsApp on the phone.
Rules:
- send the
idreturned by/message/findor themessageid - the message must be saved in the instance; if it is not, the response is
404 - calls (
messageType: call) cannot be requested
Result:
- the response only confirms that the request was sent to the phone
- if the phone has the message, it arrives later as a new message: webhook/SSE
messages(status_postsfor Status), and the/message/findrow then has the content, with the samemessageid - if the copy does not arrive, nothing changes and there is no failure notice
- Important: recovery may only happen after opening WhatsApp on the phone or leaving it active in the background
Only messages that did not open are recovered. For a message already saved normally, the copy the phone resends is discarded as a duplicate, with no webhook or change. Right after connecting, while the initial history is still being processed, this copy may arrive again as a new message. To fetch old messages that are not yet saved, use POST /message/history-sync.
